Get outside! With more that 1,300 acres of city park land, Allen has 66 parks and facilities and 78 miles of hike and bike trails. And there’s more in the works, as the city strives to reach its goal of placing a park within a half-mile of every Allen resident.

Allen's parks include:

  • The Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium, a fully enclosed indoor water park with a competition size pool and a rock-climbing wall.
  • Hydrous at Allen Station, a wakeboard complex within Allen Station Park.
  • The Edge Skate Park, one of the largest outdoor skate park in the state of Texas.
  • Allen’s Celebration Park, a super-sized space that includes soccer and baseball fields, a large multi-sport court, a playground and spray ground complex, horseshoe and washer courts, picnic areas, and hike and bike trails.
  • The Courses at Watters Creek, offering 33 holes of championship golf, a driving range, banquet facilities, Pro Shop and the Oaks Grill.

With its close proximity to Dallas, residents of Allen are able to take advantage of the many cultural amenities offered by a global city.

  • The five-time Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys play their home games at the 85,000-seat capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
  • The 2011 NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks play their home games at the 19,200-seat American Airlines Center.
  • The 1999 Stanley Cup Champion Dallas Stars also play at the American Airlines Center.
  • Back-to-back AL Pennant winners (2010-11) Texas Rangers play their home games at the 48,114-capacity Global Life Park in Arlington.
  • 2010 MLS Cup runners-up FC Dallas, formerly the Dallas Burn, play in the 20,500-seat soccer-specific Toyota Stadium in Frisco.

Collegiate-level athletics in the Dallas-Fort Worth region draw considerable passion from the local population, as well. Texas Christian University in Forth Worth, Southern Methodist University in University park and the University of North Texas all field competitive teams in a variety of sports year-round.
